Resilient Cities is a five-part documentary series that uncovers thriving underground arts scenes in cities that have experienced major traumas: natural disasters, long-term war, political unrest or economic meltdown. Featuring five creatively unique cities -- Beirut, Lebanon; Kiev, Ukraine; Athens, Greece; Port-au-Prince, Haiti and Medellin, Columbia -- each episode features local artists who are determined to create art as a means of political protest, to create change or to display courage.

Created from the perspective of filmmakers, writers, and musicians who live in these troubled and sometimes war-torn cities, art provides a glimpse into these less explored and embattled parts of the world. Resilient Cities shows that something beautiful and vibrant can continue to flourish against all odds.

Resilient Cities - Climate and Development Knowledge Network - Netflix

The Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) is a £72 million (US$100 million) initiative, formed in 2010, that links developing countries with experts on climate change. Funded by the UK's Department for International Development and the Directorate-General for International Cooperation, its aim is to help developing nations adapt to the consequences of climate change and build capacity for a low-carbon economy. CDKN does this by combining research, advisory services and knowledge management in support of locally owned and managed policy processes. It works in partnership with decision-makers in the public, private and non-governmental sectors nationally, regionally and globally. CDKN is run by an alliance of organisations, headed by PricewaterhouseCoopers and including the Overseas Development Institute, a think tank on development and humanitarian issues; Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) for sustainable development based in Ecuador; LEAD Pakistan (an NGO that aims to inspire leadership in developing Asian countries); and SouthSouthNorth, (an NGO that aims to reduce poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa). CDKN works across Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean, with a focus on 12 priority countries: Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Uganda, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, India, Indonesia, Colombia, Peru and El Salvador.
